Eggs, Dreams and Vanity
There once lived a girl in the countryside. Her grandmother gave her a chicken as a present. The chicken laid ten eggs. The girl wanted to sell her eggs. She put the eggs into a basket and put them on her head and set off to market which was approximately ten miles away from her village. The girl thought about what she could do with all the money when she sold the eggs.
“I would buy new clothes, make up and jewellery and go to lots of parties. I will be the most attractive girl and everybody will look at me. Then all my friends will be jealous of me. Then all the boys will follow me. Then I will refuse to go with anyone.”
And she shook her head and the eggs fell on the floor and broke. The girl had forgotten the eggs were on her head. She didn’t get anything.
