Our City: Our Home Celebration, encompassing Refugee Week (10 – 30th June 2024)
4th June 2024
Did you know that Refugee Week is the world’s largest Arts & Culture festival!!?
Refugee Week Norwich has grown again this year, to stretch over 3 weeks, offering 45+ events. Some private, for participants only, and most open to everyone – with free entry, food and travel for refugees, asylum seekers, and isolated migrants. Our Launch is kindly held at Norwich Cathedral.
The full program of events can be read on our Refugee Week Norwich page. Please do come along to as many events as you can – most are free, or subsidised cheap entry. Once again all proceeds are to Welcome Wheels – providing refurbished donated bikes, and safety equipment, to those most in need, via referral through Norwich Integration Partnership (NIP) organisations. The Bishop’s Open Garden is in aid of NIP itself.
We are ecstatic to welcome Beryl Bikes on board as Accessibility Partners, offering free bike and scooter travel to our participants, staff, and volunteers across the NIP and affiliate organisations of Norwich, up until Christmas. Thank You Beryl Bikes! Thanks also to the National Lottery’s Community Fund, and Norwich City Council’s community grants.
I would like to add a special Thanks to Norwich City of Sanctuary, and their specialist Streams – Arts, University, Schools, Faith, Council, Theatres, Library, Gardens and more. Various combinations of these streams alongside Integration charities have brought together this year’s impressive program. We are extremely grateful.
At this time I also wanted to share last year’s Compassionate City 2023 Evaluation Report – it seems so long ago now, but was such a joyful, sunny, successful celebration. We met our fundraising target for Welcome Wheels too (well, we were about £1.50 short… which makes me want to push that little harder this year!)
We hope to see you at an event soon!
