Black Lives Matter statement from New Routes Integration
1st July 2020
The murder of George Floyd in the US and the global Black Lives Matter movement have made us all at New Routes reflect on the structural racism that exists all around us. We recognise that racism exists in our communities and we are proud of what we do to combat it. But, there’s always more to be done. We commit to working together to counter institutional racism in our own work and practices, in our relationships with other organisations, and within Norwich and Norfolk. We reject hate and racism and wish to show our solidarity with oppressed people everywhere, not just through words, but also through our actions. Our participants, volunteers, staff and trustees are talking about how we can do more to tackle racism and make sure everyone’s voice is heard; in the next year, we are planning to establish a participant advisory group to ensure the voices, experiences and concerns of those we work with are heard and can be freely expressed.
We will continue to share our work with you.
