Children’s Stories From Around The World

The idea of publishing a storybook grew out of the New Routes International Friendship Group storytelling project at Marlpit Community Centre, Norwich, in the summer of 2006.

Mothers told their children traditional stories in their first languages and the children translated them, wrote them down and illustrated them. This book is a selection of 15 stories which have been illustrated by some of the children attending our family arts programmes. It is a celebration of the rich, diverse cultures that refugees, asylum seekers and other new communities have brought to Norwich.

At a time of funding cuts and financial competition we hope that money from the sale of this book will enable us to deliver effective programmes that support the integration of some of the most marginalised individuals, families and communities in Norwich.
